\fB/etc/group\fP jest plikiem w formacie ASCII, definiującym grupy, do
których należą użytkownicy. Każdy wpis zajmuje jedną linię następującej
postaci:

Oto opisy poszczególnych pól:
.IP nazwa_grupy
nazwa grupy, do której należą użytkownicy.
.IP password
(zaszyfrowane) hasło dostępu do grupy. Jeżeli to pole jest puste, hasło
nie jest wymagane. 
.IP GID
numeryczny identyfikator grupy.
.IP lista_użytkowników
rozdzielone przecinkami nazwy wszystkich użytkowników, należących do grupy.
