DCLTONE(1) GFD Dennou Club Library DCLTONE(1)

NAME

dcltone - display the DCL tone pattern (fill pattern) chart

SYNOPSIS

dcltone [ group_number ] [ options ]

DESCRIPTION

dcltone is a utility program included in the GFD Dennou Club Library (DCL). It displays a chart of available tone patterns (fill patterns used for shading areas).

DCL tone patterns are identified by a 3-digit integer index. This program displays a specific "group" of patterns based on the hundreds digit.

Operation

The program opens a 600x600 pixel window and draws a 6x6 grid.

  • The argument group_number (0 to 6) specifies the hundreds digit of the pattern index.
  • The vertical axis represents the tens digit (00-50).
  • The horizontal axis represents the ones digit (0-5).

For example, if you run dcltone 6, the grid will display patterns from index 600 (bottom-left) to 655 (top-right).

If group_number is not provided as a command-line argument, the program will prompt for it interactively.

OPTIONS

An integer between 0 and 6 specifying the pattern group to display.
0 : Dot patterns (coarse to fine)
1-5 : Various hatching patterns (lines, checks, etc.)
6 : Cross-hatching and complex patterns

dcltone also accepts standard DCL runtime parameters:

Specify the output workstation type (e.g., x, gtk, pdf).
Specify the window width.
Specify the window height.

EXAMPLES

To display tone patterns in the 600s series (often used for cross-hatching):

$ dcltone 6

To run interactively (you will be prompted to enter a number):

$ dcltone
TONE PATTERN (0-6) (I) ? ;
1

To save the chart for group 0 as a PDF:

$ dcltone 0 -sw:ws pdf
